Warwickshire’s finest, Conjurer, release what appears to be the first taster of their upcoming album ‘Unself’ which is due for release on October 24th via Nucelear Blast. This marks the follow up to their blistering album Páthos in 2022. An album that was right at the top of my list for that year.
‘Hang Them In Your Head’ features all the trademark features that we’ve come to expect from the band. Sinister slinky riffs, pounding and punching drums and some of the most purely guttural vocals you will hear this side of Hell.
It certainly feels like a much more introspective release from the band. Their debut album 'Mire' was pure evil intensity but this single appears to reflect more of the personal growth that members of the band have experienced. In particular, Dani Nightingale, their lead vocalist who was recently diagnosed with Autism in their 30's.
One great thing about this band is that they allow the instruments to speak for themselves. There isn’t layers of samples, crazy effects or anything added in production to hide behind. They’ve always lay themselves bare to allow the craftsmanship and emotion to pierce through, as emplified on this release by the stellar production from producer Joe Clayton.
